Watch the trailer for Netflix’s latest true-crime documentary, The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

A new Netflix true-crime documentary is on the way, focused on one of the most famous missing-person cases in recent history: Madeleine McCann. The girl in question was three years old when she disappeared from her bed in a Portuguese resort in 2007. She hasn’t been seen since, and the new film looks set to explore all the possibilities of what might have happened to her.

“I’ve done thousands of cases, but with the Madeleine case, I’ve seen the worst things a human being can see,” one investigator says in the trailer.

Police looked at several different suspects — including the girl’s parents. As one person says in the trailer, “statistically it’s likely to be someone who is in close proximity with the child.” Another speaker notes that the McCann’s apparently revised their timeline of events at certain points.

But there are even darker possibilities than that. By the end of the trailer, people are talking about human trafficking, and how “one startling element is the sheer number of sexual predators in the area at the time.”

Watch the full trailer above to explore the possibilities for yourself. The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann hits Netflix this Friday, March 15.
